Duke of Edinburgh

At Stratford upon Avon School, we offer all levels of award for the Duke of Edinburgh. In Year 9 students can access the Bronze Award both as part of the options process via the Star Qualification, or as an extra-curricular add-on. At bronze level, students will complete the equivalent of a 12-month award, which will include a navigational day walk and one 2-day/1-night expedition in the Cotswolds.

As students move into year 10, and having successfully completed their Bronze Award, they can then move onto completing the Silver Award which will be completed over an 18-month period and will involve two 3-day expeditions to Long Mynd and the Derbyshire Dales.

Finally, the full Gold Award is offered as part of the enrichment programme in the Sixth Form and can be accessed by both by direct entrants and those who've already completed the Silver Level Award. Gold takes two years to complete and includes two expeditions to the Black Mountain region in South Wales and the assessed expedition to Snowdonia.
