Matthew Bonsell and his Battalion Charity Bike Ride
Past pupil Matthew Bonsell is now an LCPL serving in the 1st battalion Coldstream guards in Matthews words
"I had the privilege of going to Stratford high school from 2004 - 2009 and i fully believe it was the base line for my future and career! The teachers encouraged and supported me a lot throughout the years which prepped me for the bigger world. I left Stratford high 2009 and i joined the Army in 2010" .
Matthew's battalion has put together a charity bike ride from London to beencourt France which is taking place on the 17th of September to help raise money for the Army Benevolent Fund. They will be taking 150 cyclists from Wellington Barracks to Bennecourt, which is twinned with the town of Coldstream and situated just to the west of Paris. We will set off from Wellington Barracks on 17th September 2014 with the serving element of the Regiment from the recently returned 1st Battalion, a veteran contingent and Regimental friends and family, arriving in Bennecourt on Saturday 20th September 2014.
There will be a WW1 commemoration in Bennecourt with the citizens of the town and French authorities.
Each cyclist will be expected to raise a minimum of £1,600 (plus £400 Gift Aid, thus achieving £2,000). To help Matthew and his team members raise their funding please go to
Past Pupil Anna Schmidt-Hansen -Dig Deep High Atlas Mountain Expedition 2014
A past pupil of our school, Anna Schmidt Hansen, who is currently studying at the University of Westminster is supporting the charity 'Dig Deep' by participating in an expedition to the Atlas Mountains.
Dig Deep is a small charity run almost entirely by volunteers, that provides clean water and renewable energy supplies for communities in Kenya. Since its formation in 2007 it has created clean water supplies for over 25,000 people and renewable energy supplies for the schools and orphanages of five communities.
To raise money for this worthy charity Anna will be climbing 1,600 miles into the Atlas mountains across three different countries and hopes to raise £1,200 pounds or more.

Past Head Boy, Ed Williams, Fundraising for Breast Cancer
Many of you will remember our Head boy from last year, Ed Williams. We are proud to be able to support Ed's fundraising campaign on behalf of the Breast Cancer Campaign.
The cause has always been close to Ed's heart due to close family members of his suffering from the condition. When Ed heard about Lynn Helliker's passing he decided to raise funds for the campaign by cycling from London to Paris. If you would like to support his efforts please go to his just giving page via the link below.
Good luck Ed!!
